Why exhibit at evenTech Scotland 2009?
The North is currently experiencing unprecedented growth in tourism, leisure
and commerce.
Glasgow
to host the 2014 Commonwealth games!
This spectacular accomplishment will see the city's urban regeneration
programme go into overdrive with the Game's Village becoming the centrepiece
of the 'Clyde Gateway Project' - a key element of the massive £4.2
billion inner city regeneration programme which is currently underway
In 2005 over 17 million tourists visited Scotland and nearly 9 million people visited North East
England in 2004.
This growth is fuelling an increase in new project developments and integrated
infrastructure leading to significant opportunities for entertainment
and installation technology suppliers.
Examples of the North’s market potential
include:
Glasgow Airport is set to see traffic increase from 8 million in
2003 to a projected 30 million in 2030 resulting in a GBP290 million re-development
programme. This will first witness a GBP30 million, 4000 square metre facility extension
in 2009.
• Glasgow City Council has approved an outline planning application which will see Buchanan Galleries double in size, becoming one of the largest shopping centres in the UK.The expansion will include new retail space, a stunning new atrium entrance onto Buchanan Street, and new bar and restaurant facilities.
• £20m Castle Retail Park set for Stirling go-ahead. Scotland's leading retail developer has been granted planning consent for a £20 million project that will help transform an area of Stirling earmarked for regeneration.
• The Trump Organization, is planning to build a multi-million-dollar project located just minutes outside Europe’s oil capital, Aberdeen. The ultimate cost of the development will depend on the final outcome of the planning application. It is anticipated that costs will be in excess of $2 billion (£1 billion).
Developers are quickly recognising the potential North East England
has to offer.
• HOCHTIEF to operate an additional 47 schools in England. HOCHTIEF Facility Management UK Ltd. will perform the technical and infrastructural building management at 47 schools in the Northwest of England for a period of approximately 25 years.
